I so wanted to join this swap but I took a chance and tried to make a sawtooth block and it didnt go well at all. I tried three times took one step at a time and it didnt even come close to anything. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong and I'm sure I'm missing something. And I so wanted to do this one, so I'm gonna have to bow out on this one  let us see pictures tho hey. I really feel bad about it too They are just beautiful blocks and the size blocks I like.....

donnap, Do you have a favorite way to make flying geese???? If you do all you need to do is to make them your way and have them measure 4 X 8 FINISHED.... I use El Burns way to do all of my flying geese. Yes, I have to trim, BUT they are ALWAYS the correct size. I have tried Tina's way and they come out 'wonky'. I'll send you instructions for doing it El's way and if you don't have her rulers I'll give you instructions (and maybe pictures) to use a regular ruler. Let me know & I'll get on this right away......

If anybody has any questions please ask and I'll try and clarify.

Ladies, When you sign up for this block, PLEASE try to list your 3 colors of your choice. That way, whenever the partners are given out, your partner doesn't have to email or PM you, to find out your 3 color choices. They can jsut get busy with your blocks, knowing what colors they will be making for you. Thanks for all your help in this matter, Gals. Hugs, Linda

Any type of fabrics are fine as long as you hold true to the light/dark of the same color for 3 different colors. You just want that star to really stand out so you just need to have that good contrast.

Well, Sharon I have been spending so much time trying to fix my PC I haven't had much time to try the flying geese but I'm going to try tomorrow. Now that I have my PC up and running I can concentrate on other things too.

Donnap, I can relate to putting out one fire before you start another. It wasn't that long ago I didn't have a computer to really play on or a place to put the sewing machines!!

Postby CoyoteQuilts » Fri Feb 12, 2010 6:52 am

Not a problem, Tina. I am a tight wad, I guess. I don't mind doing service projects, but I really hate to spend lots of money on fabric when it just may turn into a dog bed.......Only other quilters really know what goes into our 'passion'.....

My favorite of these is the top black/white (which looks cream next to pure white) and the red/black blocks. I made duplicates of these so I have some for me too......

Those black are beautiful, I love the black/white ones. As many times as I have tried them blocks they don't like me. I think that pattern has something against me.....lol Iam going to try that block til I win, or I have to be institutionalized whichever comes first...LOL
